Processing :

Australian blue gems that are too black or dark blue become lighter under high temperatures. Sri Lanka’s white corundum turns blue, while pale yellow gems can change to a deeper, warmer yellow. In a word, there are 5 aspects of application:

A: Reduces the blue color of dark sapphires (under oxidation condition)

B: Deepen the blue of the sapphire (under reduction conditions)

C: Removing filamentous inclusions and poorly developed starlight from sapphire (cooling rapidly after heating)

D: Starlight generation (cooling slowly after heating)

E: The light yellow and yellow-green corundum is heated under the condition of oxidation to become orange to golden sapphire.

Unfortunately, this manual treatment is not easy to identify. But high temperatures can weaken the stones and make them more likely to crack inside.
