Auction: A 118.35ct Sri Lankan sapphire will appear at Phillips Hong Kong auction

On May 23rd, Phillips Hong Kong will hold a spring auction of “Jewelry and Jade”, presenting nearly 100 lots. The most eye-catching item of this auction is a sapphire necklace pendant designed and produced by BVLGARI in 2004. The main stone is a rare 118.35ct Sri Lankan “Royal Blue” sapphire, valued at $3 million to $4.5 million.

This 118.35ct sapphire is cut in a pillow shape and has been identified by SSEF and G ü belin as originating in Sri Lanka. It has not undergone heating treatment and has a rich and deep blue color. BVLGARI sets it as the main stone of a necklace pendant, designed with diamond circles and water droplet shaped diamond elements, with a typical 1950s style.

The head of the global jewelry department at Phillips stated that the design of this necklace is simple and elegant, with 118.35ct Sri Lankan sapphire featuring an unusual horizontal inlay, giving it eternal charm; Lucia Silvestr, Executive Director of BVLGARI Gem Procurement, praised the size and color of this sapphire as one out of ten thousand.

The equally eye-catching auction also includes a rare 2.02ct oval cut green blue diamond, estimated to be ranked first alongside a sapphire necklace. Identified by GIA as Fancy Green Blue and SI2 clarity, it is set as the main stone in the center of a ring, surrounded by 8 oval diamonds resembling a light and romantic wreath, highlighting the clear blue-green glow of the main stone. The ring can be converted into a necklace to wear.
